Women and girls, everywhere, must have equal rights and opportunity, and be able to live free of violence and discrimination. Women’s equality and empowerment is one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.SDG 5 is integral to all dimensions of inclusive and sustainable development.  This means all the other 16 SDGs depend on the achievement of Goal 5. Hence GESI mainstreaming is important in Ondo state civil service.

Gender Norms

Objectives

01

Female Genital Mutilation Reduction

To reduce Female Genital Mutilation in the society to 50% through sensitization of community members, health workers and religious leaders in the society

Negative Gender Norms Reduction

To reduce to minimal negatives gender norms and socio-cultural practices in Ondo state ‘Targeting end; to FGM, GBV, widowhood practices and, sharing of inheritance to be 50/50%

Equity Distribution

To ensure equity in distributions of resources among the genders and age grades

Gender Diversity Campaigns

Campaigns for improvement of gender diversity in some roles in order to boost business performances

Reproductive Right Protection

To prioritize and ensure protection of reproductive right through the sensitizing and strengthen legal protection for marginalized once

Ondo state government through the Office of Special Adviser on Gender in partnership with Enterprise Development Center (EDC) will empower 200 young women changemakers (18-35 years) with managerial and entrepreneurial skills requisite for MSMEs from 16th to 18th September.
