Young women have been charged to always be part of the political process in a bid to adopt a political system that promotes accountability and integrity.
Hon Olamide Falana, Special Adviser, Gender, made this call at a training, organized for female youth leaders under the aegis of 100 Women Lobby Group(WLG) in Akure.
Ensuring accountability and integrity of the electoral process according to her, is not in the hands of INEC as an unbiased umpire but it behoves individuals as stakeholders to demand for it.
‘Accountability means following through election from process to process, not just as observers but as active participants. It involves speaking up when you observe anything wrong. You shouldn’t be afraid to make your opinion known. Accountability
Hon Falana hinted active participation is all about engagement featuring Season, Process and Result engagement.
100 Women Lobby Group(WLG) is an Advocacy Group with the objective of building the capacity of both young and older women to take up leadership roles and to also get involved in Governance issues
Speaking at the training, Bola Fasuyi, Deputy State Coordinator of the Group who was elated at the turnout of young female leaders at the Programme, posited that the training is particularly for younger girls from all political parties to get involved in political processes.
